John Lydon has hit out at his former Sex Pistols bandmates over their reunion with Frank Carter on vocals, saying he does not want to do anything with them ever again.
“`The singer, who became known as Johnny Rotten, spoke on ITV’s «Good Morning Britain» on 15 October. Asked about the criticism he has made of the reunion — he has compared it to karaoke — he said: «The nerve of them. Going out there without me, singing the songs I wrote, the lyrics I wrote, the show I put together».
When one of the presenters told him he could take part himself, he refused outright. «I have worked enough with them from the start. They are deceitful, lying hyenas and I do not want anything else to do with them», he said. «Let’s stop the karaoke band, because that is what it is for me: they copy me, and it is really insulting, since there are already great bands that copy us.»
It is not the first time he has spoken. In February 2025, in an interview with «i Paper», he had said that the band’s tour without him bothered him and that they try to present the whole thing as something harmless so that the karaoke passes.
Guitarist Steve Jones, drummer Paul Cook and bassist Glen Matlock first played with Carter at three charity shows at London’s Bush Hall in August 2024. A UK tour followed in September 2024 and since then the band, as Sex Pistols Featuring Frank Carter, has played in Europe, North America, Japan, Australia and New Zealand, while in this period it is finishing its postponed North American tour, where it plays «Never Mind The Bollocks, Here’s The Sex Pistols» in full. The tour ended in Los Angeles on 18 October, while December brings shows in the UK and Ireland.
