Slayer are marking 40 years of «Reign In Blood» with a limited vinyl edition filled with red liquid, out on 20 November 2026.

It’s a single LP zoetrope edition, sold exclusively through Sound Of Vinyl and, according to the announcement, the first version of the album to be filled with «blood».

«Reign In Blood» was released in October 1986. It was Slayer’s third album and the first produced by Rick Rubin, on his Def Jam Recordings label. The line-up — singer and bassist Tom Araya, guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman and drummer Dave Lombardo — recorded ten songs running a total of under 29 minutes, from «Angel Of Death» to «Raining Blood».

The album reached No. 94 on the Billboard 200 and went gold from the RIAA in 1992. Rolling Stone ranked it No. 6 on its list of the 100 greatest metal albums of all time, while Kerrang! called it the best thrash album. Public Enemy used «Angel Of Death» on «She Watch Channel Zero?!» from their 1988 album «It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back».

This year Slayer are playing «Reign In Blood» in full at selected shows. The current line-up has Araya and King alongside guitarist Gary Holt and drummer Paul Bostaph. Hanneman died in 2013.

After shows in Mexico City and Sick New World Texas, the band will play two sold-out nights at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, on 13 and 14 November 2026, with support from Cannibal Corpse, Cavalera and Crowbar. They will close the year in South America.
