Saxon have released «Medusa», the second single from the album «Gods of Thunder», out on 22 January 2027 through Silver Lining Music.
The song is built on the Gorgon of Greek mythology, the one whose gaze turned mortals to stone. Biff Byford calls it «a step into the world of Greek mythology» and talks about «epic metal, epic story».
“`«Gods of Thunder» was produced by Byford himself and mixed by Andy Sneap, known for his work with Judas Priest, Exodus and Accept. Peter Sallai did the artwork for both singles.
Next to the single, the band announced the European dates of the second leg of the «Gods of Thunder – World Tour», from 1 March in Brussels to 24 March in Tilburg. Brussels, Zurich, Cologne and Tilburg get the «Castles & Eagles» production, with a nine-metre eagle hanging above the stage.
On the British and Irish leg, announced earlier for February, support comes from Armored Saint. For anyone following the roots of the sound, «Wheels of Steel» is still the place to start with Saxon, while Iron Maiden’s «Killers» and AC/DC’s «Highway to Hell» mark the edges of the same era. Saxon also appear on the Leyendas del Rock 2027 line-up.
