Lamb Of God singer Randy Blythe says he would like to sing more clean vocals with the band, but only when a song calls for it – and that criticism from fans will not stop him.
“`Blythe first used clean vocals on «Overlord» from «VII: Sturm Und Drang» in 2015, and again on «The Duke» in 2016. When Jai Setright from the Australian show «Metal On Tap» asked him whether he plans to do it more, he replied (as transcribed by Blabbermouth) that he would love to, as long as it fits.
On the new record, «Into Oblivion» (2026), there is «El Vacío», for which he had the initial idea and asked Mark Morton to write it. Morton did not follow his ideas exactly, but the result fitted clean vocals. «If it fits, I’ll do it. If it doesn’t fit, I won’t», he said, adding that he has no illusions that Lamb Of God are a band for doing Frank Sinatra.
For the fans who believe clean vocals have no place in Lamb Of God’s music, Blythe was clear: he does not care, and YouTube comments mean nothing. He recalled that when they were starting the band there was just someone shouting «you suck» and throwing a beer bottle at the stage.
He avoids criticism online simply by not reading it: if someone hates a new song and he does not read it, it does not exist for him.
«Into Oblivion», Lamb Of God’s tenth album, came out on March 13, 2026 via Century Media and Epic Records. It reached number 21 on the Billboard 200 and number 1 on the Top Hard Rock Albums chart.
Lamb Of God are on an Australian tour with Trivium and Bleed From Within, which wraps up at the Riverstage in Brisbane on October 11, 2026.
