Businessman are four musicians from Houston, Texas. «Behemoth» is their first EP, with three tracks, and they put it out themselves, without a label, on 2 October 2026.
“`Country: USA (Texas)
Style: Progressive metal, sludge metal
For fans of: Baroness, Mastodon, Opeth, Down
From the first seconds you understand where they stand. The sound is heavy and slow, with guitars that have real volume, and it recalls the school that Mastodon pushed forward in their early years — the same territory Grant The Sun explore on «Biomes». But there is also a southern feel in the rhythm, something that keeps you alert instead of letting you relax.
The EP opens with «Blood of the Behemoth». It is five minutes full of riffs, but it does not stay at one tempo: between the heavy parts come airier passages with reverb and harmonised guitars. That is where it shows the band is not simply playing sludge, but building songs with a beginning, a middle and an end.
On «Mouth of the Apocalypse, Pt. II» the start is almost quiet, with acoustic guitars and clean vocals. Then the track spreads into a long instrumental section, without haste, and ends abruptly. «Mouth of the Apocalypse, Pt. I» completes the picture, with the vocals moving from hoarse to clean.
The vocals are shared by Daniel Rutledge and Bennett Sharp. On drums is Reagan Rutledge and on guitars Richard Sharp. If you like the darker, slower side of sludge, here you will find something familiar, but with more patience in the structure.
The cover was made by Luke Heggeness and shows a man worn out over his desk. An image that goes with the theme of daily work, on which the EP rests. «Behemoth» is available in digital form on their Bandcamp.
