Wodos – From The Grave | Metal Territory

Wodos are new: they formed in the winter of 2024 in Lévis, Quebec and play old-school thrash metal without beating around the bush. Their debut album, «From The Grave», came out on September 20, 2026 and is nine tracks around 31 minutes, all recorded with analogue equipment. «Head Dead» was the track released first, with a video, shortly before the album came out in full.

From zero, with their hands

Whatever they have, they built it themselves. Handmade flyers for the shows, demo recording, their own banners — whatever can be done by hand, was done. In early 2025 they put out their first demo, three tracks, on cassette and CD, and the word spread further than they expected: the thing reached scene magazines and was heard by more than 50 radio stations around the world. Within the first year they had played over 30 shows in Quebec and Ontario, sharing the stage with Chris Holmes of W.A.S.P., Quebec thrash legends Soothsayer, BARF and others. On the schedule now they have appearances alongside DBC (Dead Brain Cells), one of the first names of Canadian thrash.

The album

«From The Grave» was recorded on May 23, 2026 at NOMANSLAND studio in Gatineau, Quebec, with Chany Pilote taking on recording, mixing and mastering, without digital trickery. They make the rest themselves too: the cover is by Sebastian Frigerio and the layout by Annick Giroux. The line-up is Benji Thériault on vocals, Charles Fortin on bass, Justin Caron on drums and Mikee Blanchet on guitar.

The whole album, from the first spin to the last:

The «Head Dead»

«Head Dead» is also the album’s longest track: five minutes that show from the start where the thing is going. Fast, dirty, with the guitars cutting and the drums pushing — no frills, no intention to impress with anything other than the riffs.

Our take

Here there is nothing modern to hold on to. Wodos play the sound of the 80s because that’s what they love, and they say it openly: the album is an answer to everything that relies on trends, on effects and on polished production. Their influences show clearly — Slayer, Sadus, Demolition Hammer, Dark Angel and the early Quebec scene — and they work as a guide, not as a copy. If what you’re looking for is the old, raw sound, you’ll find it here. If you’re looking for something modern, this album won’t suit you, and they themselves would probably see that as a compliment.

We don’t give ratings, and on albums like this one they aren’t needed. Thirty minutes is the listen — one evening is enough to work out whether Wodos are for you (pam). And if something from that half hour stays with you, support them: bands like this put out their albums with their hands and their stubbornness.
