Dissimulator from Montreal, Quebec released their second album, «Artifice Dissolves», on October 2, 2026, via 20 Buck Spin. Two years after the debut «Lower Form Resistance», the trio returns with a work that pushes their technical death/thrash sound even further.
Country: Canada
Genre: Technical Death/Thrash Metal
For fans of: Revocation, Vektor, Beyond Creation
The album’s sound is sci-fi and mechanical. The riffs are sharp and constantly shifting, with continuous tempo changes and a tightly locked rhythmic section. Over that, the death vocals and the more technical guitars keep the style of their previous work, this time with cleaner production.
The album opens with «Apophenic Rage» and continues with «Hungry Ghosts» and the title track «Artifice Dissolves», while «Alloyed» and «Neon Metropolis» stand out for their drive. «Dusk» works as a short instrumental break and «Robostrobos» closes the record. Nine tracks in total, written around a solid and technical sonic whole.
Behind «Artifice Dissolves» are Claude Leduc (guitar, vocals), Antoine Daigneault (bass) and Philippe Boucher (drums). On «Artifice», «Alloyed» and «Proprioceptor» additional vocals are heard from Laurent Bellemare. The drums were recorded by Xavier Berthiaume at Productions Tehom, while reamping, mixing and mastering were done by Hugues Deslauriers at Roarrrsoundsstudio. The cover was designed by Noah Cutter Meihoff, the layout by Audrey Pasquini (Bangs! Studio) and the photography by Kristel Boucher.
