Europe opened the 40th anniversary tour for «The Final Countdown» on 30 September 2026 in Glasgow, Scotland, at the SEC Armadillo.
In the second half of the concert they played the entire 1986 album, in its original order, with the title track that opens the record moved to the end of the night. It is only the second time in their career that Europe have performed the whole album live.
Before that, they played nine songs from across their discography, among them three from the new album «Come This Madness», which was released on 25 September 2026. The show opened with the live debut of «Scandinavian Eyes», while the two singles «One On One» and «The Cult Of Ignorance» were heard, together with «Superstitious», «Prisoners In Paradise» and «Walk The Earth».
The Glasgow setlist, as the band played it:
- Scandinavian Eyes (live debut)
- Walk The Earth
- Superstitious
- One On One
- Last Look At Eden
- War Of Kings
- Prisoners In Paradise
- The Cult Of Ignorance
- On Broken Wings
- Rock The Night
- Carrie
- Danger On The Track
- Ninja
- Cherokee
- Time Has Come
- Heart Of Stone
- On The Loose
- Love Chaser
- The Final Countdown
The last ten songs on the list are the entirety of «The Final Countdown», with the title track closing the night instead of opening it, as it does on the record.
Singer Joey Tempest had told «Classic Album Review» before the tour that rehearsals reminded him of songs he liked but hadn’t played for years, naming «Time Has Come» and «Love Chaser». In the same interview he also explained why the band still enjoys playing «The Final Countdown» live, even though none of them listen to it at home.
The tour includes 19 concerts in 12 European countries and ends on 26 October 2026 at Sentrum Scene in Oslo, Norway. The Canadians The Damn Truth open on all dates.
«Come This Madness» is their first record in nine years. It was recorded at RMV Studios in Stockholm with producer Tom Dalgety. The line-up is Tempest, John Norum (guitar), John Levén (bass), Mic Michaeli (keys) and Ian Haugland (drums) — the same line-up that recorded «The Final Countdown». Norum had left the band in 1986 and returned when Europe reunited in 2003.
