Geezer Butler and Geoff Tate will be in the same camp for musicians in March 2027. The bassist of Black Sabbath in their classic years and the singer who made history with Queensrÿche will be the two main guests of «Metalmania IV», the metal edition of the Rock ‘N’ Roll Fantasy Camp, which runs from 11 to 14 March 2027 in Los Angeles.
“`Beside them will play guitarist George Lynch, known from Dokken and now in Lynch Mob, and drummer Tommy Aldridge, who has passed through Ozzy Osbourne and Whitesnake. The camp lasts four days and takes musicians of every level: they rehearse with the guests and go up on stage with them. Alongside them will be the organisation’s counselors, such as David Ellefson and Vinny Appice.
Rock Camp founder David Fishof says the event is not a song lesson but a stage experience, with people meeting and playing in rooms that have history. The camp’s music director, Vixen guitarist Britt Lightning, adds that she sees participants gain confidence within four days. Registration and packages for Metalmania IV are open on the Rock Camp website.
The Rock ‘N’ Roll Fantasy Camp turns 30 in 2026. Over 40% of participants are women, and the programme also runs women-only camps as well as songwriting camps. Roger Daltrey, Jeff Beck and Gene Simmons have passed through it, and there is also a documentary about the event on streaming. In December 2026 the camp also goes to Seattle, with Jerry Cantrell, Kim Thayil and Dave Krusen.
Since Black Sabbath’s final concert in July 2025, Butler has turned up at two things: he went to the premiere of the concert film «Back To The Beginning» and got on stage with Jack Black’s Jack Sabbath for «War Pigs», at Tom Morello’s Power To The People festival. Before that came his appearance on «Paranoid» with Corey Taylor and Nuno Bettencourt, while Tony Iommi released «From The Dark» without pressure and deadlines.
Tate, on the other hand, has his own path after Queensrÿche, with whom he had reached the top with «Operation: Mindcrime». In 2026 he continues the series with «Operation: Mindcrime III», and at the camp he will be beside musicians of Black Sabbath.
