HEKATOXEN are a Finnish death metal quartet from Tampere, and «Obsidian Majesty» is their first full-length album, released on 2 October 2026 by Nuclear Winter Records.

The band started out as a trio around 2020, formed by members of the hardcore punk act Kauhu and the deathgrind band Sonic Poison. Their debut EP «Utter Darkness» came out in 2022 and already showed their love for the classic Finnish death metal sound.
The album leans hard on the riffs and that sound of the early 90s, with nods to Demigod and Mythos. The opener «Lost Souls Epitome» brings speed, strong leads and simpler, circular changes, while a synthesiser passage in the middle shifts the mood. «I Am Them» carries on with a winding lead groove and a restless third section.
Through the first half the intent is clear: faithful Finnish death metal, with no needless experiments. «Spawns of Darkness» adds a roar in the vein of Gorement, while the second half is led by «Grave Reveries» and the interlude «At Hellsrivers Pathway», before the closing «Vanguard the Dark» pulls us back in with momentum.
Across its roughly 35 minutes the album holds a steady line: authentic, dirty and free of modern shortcuts, exactly as a debut that respects its roots should sound.
