A complete live album from Type O Negative is expected in the first quarter of 2027, according to their former guitarist Kenny Hickey.
Hickey gave the update in an interview with Scott Penfold on «Loaded Radio». Asked where the project stands, he said the recordings are almost ready to go to Mike Marciano, who mixed Type O Negative‘s albums over the years.
“`«I’m almost done editing everything, putting it all together and simplifying it. We’re going to hand it to Mike Marciano, the original Type O Negative mixer. He’s built a studio at his home in Pennsylvania. We sent him «Love You To Death». He mixed it, it sounded great, so that’s how we’re going. We’re hoping for the first quarter of next year. Because you can’t put it out as soon as it’s finished, you need three months. You have to order the vinyl, and that takes months», he said.
Title, tracklist and recording details have not been announced yet.
Hickey also mentioned that an unreleased song from the 1996 «October Rust» sessions will come out at some point. It was found on a tape dug up by drummer Johnny Kelly. It is, he said, «Prometheus». Asked whether it was one of Peter Steele‘s long, epic compositions or something shorter in the vein of «I Don’t Wanna Be Me», Hickey replied that it’s «something in between», which would have grown even longer had it made the album.
«October Rust» was Type O Negative‘s fourth studio album and the first with Kelly, who joined in 1994. The «Love You To Death» that Marciano has already mixed for the live project is also from that record.
The Brooklyn band released seven studio albums before stopping in 2010, when Steele died of heart failure at the age of 48.
