Rammstein have offered another taste of their upcoming concert film, releasing the official video for their performance of «Sonne».
The footage comes from the band’s three shows at Foro Sol in Mexico City in October 2022. The concerts took place on 1, 2 and 4 October, with almost 200,000 spectators in total.
“`The Mexico City shows were taped during the band’s big stadium period (2019–2024), when Rammstein toured the world with its famed, over-the-top spectacle. The film «Rammstein – Live In Mexico City» centres on the 2022 concerts and captures the scale of the production that turned the German group into one of the most impressive live acts on the planet.
The 2022 North American stadium run was a special one, as it marked the first and only time Rammstein brought its full stage production to the continent. Seven 747 aircraft and nearly 210 crew members were needed to haul everything the pyrotechnic show demanded. The leg took in 12 open-air concerts, kicking off in Montreal on 21 August, rolling through seven stadiums in the United States and finishing in Mexico City.
Shot in 4K, the feature-length movie spans songs from across the band’s whole career. Alongside «Sonne», it features «Armee Der Tristen», «Deutschland», «Du Riechst So Gut», «Du Hast» and the rarely performed «Te Quiero Puta!».
The direction is by award-winning Paul Dugdale, previously behind work for the Rolling Stones, Taylor Swift, Elton John and Adele.
The film gets a limited cinema run worldwide on 4 November. France follows on 6 November, while Japan has screenings lined up for 5 and 18 November. A companion live album arrives on 20 November in physical and digital formats.
Worldwide distribution is handled by Trafalgar Releasing, with the exception of Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, South Tyrol and Luxembourg, where Filmwelt Distribution takes over. Those interested can check the screenings and sign up for updates at rammsteinmexico.live.
