Playgrounded started in Athens, but they have lived in the Netherlands for years, and their sound suits Rotterdam’s grey days more than the Greek summer. “A Flower To Water” was released on September 18, 2026 via Pelagic Records.
Country: Greece (based in: Netherlands)
Genre: Post-metal, progressive metal, electronica (clean vocals)
For fans of: Lunatic Soul, Katatonia, The Ocean
The album
Their debut was called “Athens”, a statement of identity for a band that left the city. On the new album the synths and samples play a key role: they set the tone and at the same time keep the band tight. The vocals stay clean, the rhythms grow heavier and the whole mood revolves around mourning. The cover art is by Aias Kokkalis.

Our take
The album sounds full and clean, without a plastic finish. The tracks move slowly and put you in a mood that is in no hurry to pass, with moments that recall the seriousness of Katatonia and the volume of The Ocean. This is not background music: it wants devotion, and it rewards it.
