Metallica have released professionally shot video of «Fade To Black» from the third night of their «Life Burns Faster» residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas.
“`The show took place on Thursday 8 October and was the first time the band played the «Ride The Lightning» ballad inside the residency. The 1984 song came seventh in a 16-song set that opened with «Battery» and closed with «Master Of Puppets».
It follows a video of «Lux Æterna» from the same night, and the band had already shared «The Call Of Ktulu» from the Sphere — the performance with the giant Cthulhu on screen.
The residency opened on 1 October and covers 24 concerts in 12 «No Repeat Weekend» pairs, with a different setlist every Thursday and Saturday — the format of the «M72» tour.
The first eight dates were announced in February and another 16 in March, with the band stating a few days later that no more would be added. The last show is scheduled for 13 March 2027. The Sphere holds around 17,600 people and relies on a 16K LED screen that wraps around the audience.
«Fade To Black» had already been played on the Sphere stage earlier in the run — we covered that night — and «Devil’s Dance» came back after 18 years, also at the Sphere.
