Meshuggah will top the bill on the opening night of Milwaukee Metal Fest 2027, the festival has confirmed. The three-day event runs from 14 to 16 May at The Rave/Eagles Club in Milwaukee, and the Swedes close Friday 14 May.
“`Testament, Crowbar, YOB, Pig Destroyer and Repulsion are already on the line-up, while the Saturday and Sunday headliners will be announced later. A pre-party is planned for Wednesday 13 May at a venue that has not been named yet.
The organisers recalled that the band played Metal Fest XII on 25 July 1998 at the Eagles Ballroom, on their first ever visit to the United States. This year marks five years since the festival returned.
Among the names already confirmed, Testament come with «The New Order» of 1988 as a reference point for the thrash of that era, while Crowbar and YOB cover the heavier, slower end of the bill. Pig Destroyer and Repulsion sit between grind and proto-death.
For anyone who wants to hear where the school Meshuggah opened stands today, the «Biomes» of Grant The Sun and the «Annihilist» of Hippotraktor are two recent examples with the same rhythmic DNA.
Milwaukee Metal Fest belongs to the tradition of American festivals that put classic metal and more extreme bands on the same bill, with the Eagles Club as its home for decades.
