Ulshoffer, from Clarksville, Tennessee, was watching Knocked Loose at the Impact Stage in Louisville late on Friday, September 18, when a man who had climbed one of the trees at the back of the crowd fell and hit her. Her spinal cord was severed and she remains in intensive care at UofL hospital.

The band’s donation goes toward the expenses her family is now facing. Her niece, Cheyenne Will, set up a campaign on GoFundMe after the accident, for her treatment and rehabilitation, with a goal of $22,000.

Louisville police said they will not open a criminal investigation and are treating the incident as a civil matter, while according to them a branch of the tree appears to have broken. The man has not been publicly identified.

Speaking from her hospital bed to WHAS11, Ulshoffer described what her life is like now: “I can’t feel my legs. I can’t do anything I used to do. I won’t be able to play with the kids.” To the man who fell on her she said: “He shouldn’t have been up there. Especially after it had just rained. Stupid decision. You did this, but I forgive you.” Organizer Danny Wimmer Presents said that for reasons of medical privacy it cannot comment on the incident.

Knocked Loose were the festival’s secret band, revealed on September 9, and their set was moved to 11:05 at night, after bad weather forced the venue to be evacuated earlier. The band hails from Oldham County, Kentucky, just outside Louisville, and this month marks ten years since their first album, “Laugh Tracks”, with a limited vinyl reissue.
