Silvertomb have released a lyric video for «Brain Matter / No God», the track that opens their second album. The New York band are led by Kenny Hickey and Johnny Kelly, both former Type O Negative members, and the album «The Interpretation Of Nightmares» is out on 13 November via Steamhammer.
“`Hickey handles vocals and guitar, Kelly — who has also played with Danzig — the drums. The line-up also includes guitarist Joe James, previously of Agnostic Front, Sheer Terror bassist Hank Hell and Aaron Joos on guitar, keyboards and vocals.
Hickey says it was the first song written for the album and that the musical motif running through the record in various forms is built on it. The lyrics, he says, describe a nightmare in which the dreamer is shot and lives his own death inside the dream.
It is the third track they have put out from the album. Before it came «No Way To Live», which the label describes as a little faster and which deals with rejection and pain, and «Graves In The Sky», which arrived with a music video in September.
The album comes seven years after the debut «Edge Of Existence», released in November 2019 by Long Branch Records/SPV. Back then the band had just finished a tour with Monster Magnet, but the pandemic stopped live shows in 2020. Hickey says the years that followed were hard for the band and for him personally, as he also had a problem with drinking that he had to sort out.
Silvertomb grew out of Seventh Void, the project Hickey and Kelly put together while Type O Negative were still active. The two played in Type O Negative until the band’s end, which came after the death of singer and bassist Peter Steele in April 2010, while Kelly joined Quiet Riot in 2020.
