«In Your Multitude» is the third album by Conception and it was released on 3 May 1995 through Noise Records. The sound rests on complex structures but also on big melodies. Tore Østby’s guitars weave technical riffs and clean solos, Ingar Amlien’s bass and Arve Heimdal’s drums hold a demanding pace, and above all Roy Khan’s voice stands out, clean and full of range.
«Under a Mourning Star» opens the album, while «Missionary Man», «Retrospect», «Guilt» and the long «A Million Gods», which runs to almost eight minutes, stand out. Every track has its own atmosphere within a unified whole.
What sets Conception apart from other bands in the scene is the balance between weight and melody, without excess. The album takes a few listens to show what it hides, but it does not get tiring at any point.
The album was recorded at the Stairway to Heaven studio and released on Noise Records, the same label that put out many European heavy metal albums of the 90s. Conception became known for their technique and for their live shows.
«In Your Multitude» remains one of the finest examples of progressive power metal of its time, and Roy Khan’s later career made many people return to this album. Tore Østby’s compositions are full of detail, and Khan’s vocals give each track its own identity.
