Marilyn Manson will reissue «Antichrist Superstar» for its 30th anniversary, in a remastered edition scheduled for January 15, 2027.
The new edition comes in gatefold packaging with a 24-page book featuring unpublished photos, handwritten lyrics and Manson’s sketches from the album’s era. Waxwork Records is handling the release, on vinyl and cassette: the double LP on midnight blue vinyl with iridescent gold and green haze is available for pre-order from Waxwork, while the crystal clear edition with black smoke and a limited reprint of a period T-shirt are sold through Revolver.
“`«It’s been 30 years since I opened up the American dream and pulled out Antichrist Superstar in all its vitriolic glory», Manson said. «For those of us who are true believers, that mark never closed and became folklore for a culture that forgot what real danger sounded like. I’m here to remind everybody».
The announcement coincides with the start of the anniversary tour, which opened with two nights at The Fillmore in New Orleans. The album was recorded in the same city, at Trent Reznor’s Nothing Studios, who co-produced it with Manson, Sean Beavan and Dave Ogilvie. The tour continues in San Antonio and Austin and closes with two shows at The Wiltern in Los Angeles on Halloween night and November 1 — his first in the city after eight years, in the form of a double performance built around the album’s story and a career-spanning set.
«Antichrist Superstar» was released on October 8, 1996 through Nothing and Interscope and was his second studio album. It debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, was certified platinum by the RIAA that December and produced the singles «The Beautiful People» and «Tourniquet». Next year Manson will join the European and South American legs of Slipknot’s 2027 stadium tour.
It is noted that in November 2027 a civil jury trial is scheduled over sexual assault allegations by his former assistant Ashley Walters. Manson has denied all the allegations, while in January 2025 the Los Angeles County district attorney did not file criminal charges after a separate investigation.
