Metallica added «Fade To Black» to their set for the first time on the «Life Burns Faster» residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas, on October 8, 2026. Fan footage has surfaced online.
“`The third show of the residency largely followed the setlist of the October 1 premiere, with two main changes. «Fade To Black», from 1984’s «Ride The Lightning», took the place of «The Day That Never Comes», and «Orion» went where «The Call Of Ktulu» was played at the premiere. The jam by Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo was built around «Suicide & Redemption», instead of «Sleepwalk My Life Away».
The residency is split into pairs of Thursday and Saturday shows, and the band does not repeat songs between the two shows of the same weekend. They had first used this format at the start of the «M72 World Tour» in 2023. The second show, on October 3, 2026, had a completely different set and included the first performance of «Devil’s Dance» after 18 years. The October 8 show is the pair of the October 10 appearance.
