Mötley Crüe guitarist John 5 explained how the shows he will play in 2027 with Wednesday 13 will work: the singer will come out on stage between the instrumental tracks and perform songs from the bands John 5 has played with.
“`The collaboration was announced in August 2026 and it is the first time that John 5’s solo outfit, The Creatures, puts a singer on stage. The set will include songs from his time with Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson, Mötley Crüe and David Lee Roth, alongside his own material.
On the October 5, 2026 episode of «Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk» on SiriusXM — as recorded by Blabbermouth — John 5 said that during 2027 there will be festivals, shows and tours, and explained what changes for anyone who has been to an instrumental show of his before: «Between the instrumentals, we’ll have songs with vocals, and Wednesday will come out and sing. He’s a great singer.»
Eddie Trunk asked him whether the shows would keep the instrumentals, with Wednesday 13 appearing after two or three songs to sing songs from John 5’s former and current bands. «Exactly. And it’s going to be great. We got together in a rehearsal space, we tried it out, and it was so much fun. If we’re having that much fun, I think the crowd will enjoy it too,» he replied.
As for how the duo came about, the guitarist said he has known Wednesday 13 for years, that they had toured together and have mutual friends, and that he seemed the absolutely perfect fit.
John 5 And The Creatures with Wednesday 13 have booked their first two dates: Wacken Open Air in Germany, from July 28 to 31, 2027, and Brutal Assault, at the 18th-century Josefov fortress in Jaroměř, Czech Republic, from August 4 to 7, 2027. More dates are expected to be announced.
Wednesday 13 has also spoken several times about the project. In August 2026 he told «TotalRock» that the chemistry was immediate from the first time they played together and that he knew the songs without a lyric sheet. On «The David Ellefson Show» in September he said the idea came through their mutual agent, Dan DeVita, and that the shows are something fun for the crowd, estimating about a month of European appearances.
The two musicians have known each other for years and their bands have toured together since 2010. Wednesday 13 is known mainly for his solo career and as the singer of Murderdolls, alongside the late Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison. In the same interview John 5 also recalled Mötley Crüe’s recent «Return Of Carnival Of Sins» tour with Tesla and Extreme.
