Review
Display Of Decay return with Desolate Dawn, Pt. 1, an EP that punches you straight in the face: raw, violent and made for those who want death metal without filters. The band from Canada delivers five tracks full of heavy, aggressive riffs, merciless blastbeats, screams from the depths of the earth and an atmosphere that smells of blood and sweat.

The guitars have that workout-mosh vibe: chunky riffs, mid-tempo blows that lift you out of your seat, and fast attacks that recall the old school. The drums are truly relentless — the drummer hits as if he wants to break the kit, with blastbeats that fill the space and crashes that give a wild, aggressive texture.
The low gutturals are among the strongest elements of the EP: deep, dirty, almost beastly. The voice seems to come from some underground monster, giving the material an extra dose of savagery.
The highlight is “Crimson Execution”: a track full of groove, heaviness and raw energy. It is the most contagious point of the EP and shows clearly what the band can do when it combines brutality with proper rhythmic cohesion.

Desolate Dawn, Pt. 1 is short, direct and effective. If you love death metal that does not try to be anything other than pure violence and fun, this EP is for you. And yes — if a Part 2 happens, it will be interesting to see where they take it.
