PRESS RELEASE : The Italian Progressive/Power Metal veterans Vision Divine return to discography via Scarlet Records with their new release, “A Clockwork Reverie”. The act of guitarist Olaf Thorsen, known for its flawless technical command and grandiose melodies, continues to deliver high-quality compositions. Their new work combines the speed and energy of power metal with more melodic/AOR moments, while also paying tribute to their past, including renewed performances of classic tracks from their golden era (2004-2007).

Tracklist :

Sator Rotas
A Clockwork Reverie
18 (It Feels like Heaven)
Andromeda
Identities (2026 Version)
God Is Dead (2026 Version)
The 25th Hour (2026 Version)

REVIEW : If I have to credit them with something from the very first second of “A Clockwork Reverie”, it’s the flawless production. We’re talking perhaps about the most crystalline and clean power metal sound that has reached my ears this year. Musically, the new tracks follow a fairly typical, but perfectly executed recipe, with new vocalist Michele Luppi giving it his all. Especially on the more AOR/hard rock “18 (It Feels like Heaven)”, his timbre and high notes steal the show, proving that he’s a great addition to the band.

But that’s where the release’s problems begin. The album is essentially “saved” by its past, since the last three tracks are re-recordings of old hymns of theirs. The bad part is that these gems (“Identities”, “God Is Dead”, “The 25th Hour”) literally wipe the floor with the new compositions. Although the keys and drums give tremendous prog dynamic to this closing, you feel an awkwardness. It’s somewhat uncomfortable when a band needs to rehash its old glories to give weight to a new album, ultimately proving that its old material was classes above. A work that had potential, but remains trapped in its nostalgia.
