Tarja releases today, June 12, 2026, her new metal album “Frisson Noir” via earMUSIC — her heaviest and darkest record to date. After years of exploring different musical directions, Tarja returns decisively to metal, delivering a record that combines cinematic atmosphere, symphonic textures and modern dynamics.
The first singles clearly showed the new direction: – “At Sea”: a ten-minute, cinematic opening with strong drama – “I Don’t Care”: a collaboration with Dani Filth (Cradle of Filth) – “The Trace Outlives”: an emotional peak that prepared the ground for the release
All three singles were voted “Track of the Week” by Classic Rock readers.
“Frisson Noir” places Tarja’s voice at the centre, amid orchestral peaks, choirs, dark symphonic elements and powerful guitar moments. The album explores themes of fear, beauty, endurance, transformation, identity and trust. It’s also available in Dolby Atmos exclusively on Apple Music.
The album features: – Dani Filth (Cradle of Filth) – Apocalyptica – Marko Hietala (ex‑Nightwish) – Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers)
The mix is signed by Grammy nominee Neal Avron (Linkin Park, Skillet, Disturbed), giving the album a modern, aggressive and clean sound.
“Frisson Noir” is released in: – CD Digipak – Black 2LP Gatefold – Limited Purple 2LP Gatefold – Signed editions – Collector’s Box Set
All the first editions feature copper plating and an embossed logo.
