“Ophidian Wheel” is Septic Flesh’s third album. It was released in 1997 by Holy Records and recorded in October and November 1996 at Praxis Studios in Athens. In 2013 it came out again by Season of Mist with bonus tracks and new artwork.

For fans of: Rotting Christ, Necromantia, Nightfall On the album the band continues the path of “Esoptron”, with tighter compositions and cleaner production. The drums remain programmed, the keyboards and samplers set the tone and Christos Antoniou’s guitars move between heavy riffs and melodies that could belong to a symphonic work. The title refers to the “wheel of serpents” and the album’s themes revolve around mythology and darkness, with a style that stood out from the other Greek bands of the time. The 2013 reissue also brought a new visual identity, while keeping the sound of the original release. Our take It is the album where Septic Flesh balanced for the first time perfectly between death metal and their symphonic ambition.
