On August 26, 2002 «Genesis» came out, their seventh album and the band’s most aggressive turn after years of melodic records.
Country: Greece
Genre: Black Metal
For fans of: Behemoth, Samael, Belphegor
The recording took place in May 2002 at Stage One Studios in Bühne, Germany, with Andy Classen producing again. Across the ten tracks the sound returns to the fast black metal of their early days, with raw vocals, synthesisers and choral passages that add weight. «Ad Noctis» was heard years later on the soundtrack of the game «Brütal Legend», which made it the album’s most recognisable track outside the fanbase.
The album was reissued in 2008 on limited, numbered vinyl by Night Of The Vinyl Dead and in 2026 in a new pressing by Season of Mist, on black and coloured vinyl.
Our take
The album shows a band that remembered where it started without throwing away what it learned. «Lex Talionis» is one of their most infectious heavy tracks.
