Review
Nomad from Kortrijk arrive with Oxygen, a debut that moves between metalcore intensity and post‑metal atmosphere. The band builds a cinematic sound with heavy guitars, electronic layers and a voice that conveys raw intensity and inner weight. The tracks revolve around the idea of “breathing” — suffocation, release, confusion, clarity — and this shows both in the structure and the mood of the album.
“Breath” opens with an atmosphere that builds gradually, before the first explosion kicks in. “Desert of Woe” and “Feather” show their balance between groove and dark melody, while “Opio” and “Sun” bring a more intense metalcore character. On “Mind” and “Daerk” the band plays with electronic elements and a more suffocating atmosphere, while “Elevate” closes with a brighter, almost cathartic mood.
Nomad have a sound that combines aggression and emotion, with a production that gives space to every element. It’s an album that clearly shows their identity and leaves room for even greater evolution.
