Convulsif are a Swiss act working on the boundaries of experimental sound. “Anatomy of Rage” is their new album and was released on October 1, 2026. It’s an instrumental record, with no vocals, with cover art by Stefan Thanneur.
“`Country: Switzerland
Genre: Avant-garde / Experimental (instrumental)
For fans of: Neurosis, Lou Reed “Metal Machine Music”, early Pink Floyd, Tool
The album opens with a heavily distorted bass sound and moves constantly from there. “Monitor and Limit” is built on a slow, asymmetrical rhythm, while around the album’s spine different things meet: noisy improvisational passages with clarinet and violin, big atmospheric sections with whispered spoken word, minimal doom, but also bursts of grindcore and hardcore punk.
On “Facing the Fasces” the punk opening gives way to a harsher clarinet, while “No Sound Footing” builds an atmosphere that recalls a film soundtrack. The most accessible point of the record is “The Pitch, the Plight, the Polymer”, a nineteen-minute track with a post-metal build that moves from eerie drone to atmospheric space rock.
Convulsif are Christian Müller (bass clarinet), Jamasp Jhabvala (violin), Loïc Grobéty (bass) and Maxime Hänsenberger (drums). The album is released by Deszpot Records, Akari Records, Day Off Records, Ramble Records, Cheap Satanism Records and Wayside.
