Igorrr started in 2005 as the personal project of Gautier Serre, a multi-instrumentalist and producer who treats musical genres not as borders but as material. On their most recent album, Amen, the twelve tracks move from extreme metal riffs and breakcore to baroque and classical references, with strings, choral and operatic vocals and oriental textures. The influences Serre has cited range from Meshuggah, Cannibal Corpse, Taraf de Haïdouks and Aphex Twin to Bach, Chopin and Domenico Scarlatti.
Their discography went from the first demos of 2006 and 2008 to Nostril (2010) and Hallelujah (2012). Savage Sinusoid in 2017 was their first album on Metal Blade and the first with real musicians instead of samples. On Amen you also hear guitarist Trey Spruance, on the track “Blastbeat Falafel” — a direct link to Secret Chiefs 3, who will now find themselves live on the same stage. The album also features Scott Ian (Anthrax), along with a 15-member choir.
Secret Chiefs 3 are the project of Trey Spruance, a founding member of Mr. Bungle and former guitarist of Faith No More. They started in the mid-1990s and their music moves from surf rock, jazz and metal to electronic, cinematic soundtracks and traditional forms of the East. Under their umbrella hide seven different acts, from Electromagnetic Azoth to Holy Vehm and NT Fan, with a discography from First Grand Constitution and Bylaws (1996) to Malkhut (2018).
Fange formed in 2013 in Brittany, France and work on the borders of industrial, sludge, noise and death metal. After Purge (2016) and Punir (2019) they pushed the guitars further back in favor of drum machines and industrial influences, while Privation (2023) and Perdition (2024) darkened their sound even more. Purulences is the return to guitars, with more death metal songwriting. They have shared the stage with Ulcerate and Imperial Triumphant.
