Fortress Festival has completed the programme for its fifth anniversary edition, which takes place on 29 and 30 May 2027 at Scarborough Spa in North Yorkshire, with room for 1,900 people across three stages. Emperor top the bill, in their only UK appearance of 2027.

The last names added are Ultha and Firtan, both with exclusive shows in the country, Perchta — who will play in Britain for the first time after their 2025 appearance was cancelled — and Frostgard, who bring dungeon synth and dark ambient to the two-day theatre stage. Friday’s opening show, «Fortress: First Light», also gained Blood Countess, already confirmed for the Darkness Guides Us 2027 bill, next to Terrestrial Hospice and Watain.

Tickets
Festival founder and director Gary Stephenson says every previous edition sold out, and that only a few tickets are left for 2027 even though just a few months have passed since the 2026 event.
The announcement of Emperor as the first headliners came earlier, and the band now sits at the top of the finished programme. For anyone after a comparable event within easier travelling distance, there is also Total Metal Open Air III in Bulgaria. The rest of the European summer is already taking shape too: the Brutal Assault 2027 line-up stands at 63 confirmed bands.
