“Sumerian Daemons” is Septic Flesh’s sixth album. It came out on February 18, 2003 by Hammerheart Records, was recorded in May and June 2002 at Studio Fredman in Sweden, and it is the last one before the band’s long hiatus.

For fans of: Rotting Christ, Necromantia, Nightfall The production is by Fredrik Nordström, who had also worked with them on “Revolution DNA”, and the sound moves between blackened death metal and symphonic metal, with samplers and orchestrations by Christos Antoniou in the foreground. There is also a soprano on vocals: Natalie Rassoulis, while on “Unbeliever” Gore can also be heard on backing vocals. The album closed the band’s first major period, since in 2003 Septic Flesh stopped for four years, until their big return in 2007. It is also the work where the symphonic disposition that would dominate later is clearly visible for the first time, with the keyboards building images instead of merely accompanying. Our take It is a bridge album: it keeps the aggression of death metal, yet opens the door to a band that would play with orchestras and choirs.
