Genre: Symphonic death metal
For fans of: Rotting Christ, Necromantia, Nightfall The band had returned with a show at the Metal Healing Festival in Greece on February 19, 2007, after four years of silence, and “Communion” was the answer to the question of what they would do from then on. The answer was an orchestra: Christos Antoniou, who holds a master’s degree in composition from the London College of Music, wrote the orchestrations and the Filmharmonic Orchestra of Prague recorded them with eighty musicians and a choir of thirty-two singers. Standing out among the tracks are “Lovecraft’s Death”, “We the Gods” and “Sangreal”, while on “Babel’s Gate” the guitar solo is by Marios Iliopoulos of Nightrage. With this album Septicflesh became known outside Greece as a symphonic death metal band, with a sound that combined the ferocity of the genre with a classical orchestra. Our take It is the true beginning of their modern era: orchestra, choir and death metal in the same work, at a time when very few bands dared to do it. Their entire subsequent path was decided here.
