«Titan» is Septicflesh‘s ninth record. It was released on June 20, 2014 via Season of Mist, was recorded in September and October 2013 at Devasoundz Studios in Athens and at Smecky Studios in Prague.
Country: Greece
Genre: Symphonic death metal
For fans of: Rotting Christ, Necromantia, Nightfall
On the record the arrangements and symphonic parts are again by Christos Antoniou, with the FILMharmonic Orchestra and the Prague children’s choir under the direction of Adam Klemens. The lineup includes Seth Siro Anton on bass, vocals and artwork, Sotiris Anunnaki V on rhythm guitar and clean vocals, Christos Antoniou on guitar and arrangements and Fotis Benardo on drums.
It was the record that brought the biggest commercial recognition up to then: it entered the charts at number 99 in Belgium, 37 in Finland and 112 in France, while in the United States it reached 7 on the Heatseekers chart. In 2015 came the video for «Prometheus» directed by Jon Simvonis, one of the best-known tracks of their modern period.
Our take
It’s the most sweeping record of the period and the one that gave the band the place it deserved outside Greece. The orchestra isn’t decorative; it writes alongside the guitars.
