RAZORVOID – Into the Void | Metal Territory

The first full-length album from RAZORVOID is called «Into the Void» and it comes out on October 2, 2026, on CD and digitally. It’s eleven tracks running around 36 minutes, the follow-up to the «Sonic Decay» cassette and the EP «Terror in Time» (2023), from a band formed in 2021 in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Country: Sweden (Gothenburg)
Genre: speed metalpunk — d-beat and crust punk with speed, thrash and death metal passages
For fans of: Motörhead, Anti-Cimex, Repugnant, Midnight

The band has been working the same axis for years: old death metal, thrash, d-beat punk and classic heavy metal, with heavy influences from Motörhead, Anti-Cimex and Repugnant. Singer and guitarist is Stefan Eliasson, and the band’s logic is clear from the start — tracks around three minutes, one after another, raspy vocals and riffs that never let up the pace.

The record opens with «Sign of the Curse», its riffs laying down their filthy sound from the start, and continues with the title track «Into the Void», where the leads are framed by a clean phase and give the track the air of a band’s first record that remembers UK82 very well. It’s not an original idea and they don’t hide it: what wins is the hard punch and the cohesion, as the tracks roll one after another.

«An Everlasting Flame» is the first point that lifts its head, with early-80s heavy metal sitting on street punk and giving the most immediate thing on the record. In the same vein, «Rituals of the Damned» starts from the band’s fast thrash side and turns to heavy metal with late-80s hardcore punk in its second half. «422 Gutterpunx» goes even further, with a German thrash stomp that has weight, while «Jaws of Perdition» keeps the low, rusted profile. In the second half of the record the band opens up more of its color shadings and less of the established rocking speed metal shapes — that’s where the album’s best material is.

Our take

«Into the Void» doesn’t bring something we haven’t heard before, but that isn’t a problem here. Its strength is the bond: the band’s crust punk layer keeps the momentum of the d-beat tradition, while the speed and thrash passages give a clear, recognizable metal-record air. Songs like «An Everlasting Flame» achieve something that isn’t easy: they become immediate without becoming simple, and the gear changes keep the listener alert to the end.

Where the album loses ground is in how deeply it digs into its heaviest components. The death metal and classic heavy metal the band’s music carries pass by very quickly, like brushstrokes, and so at moments it sounds like a set of good tracks that resemble each other a little, instead of something with its own, hard-to-copy character. For a first album RAZORVOID stand just fine, with speed, a barbaric guitar sound and a clear sense of what they want to sound like — the next release is the one that will show whether they take it further.
