The Swedish d-beat band Disfear have announced «The Last Nail», their first studio album after 2008. It features the last recordings of singer Tomas Lindberg and drummer Marcus Andersson, who both died of cancer after the album was completed.
The album has eight tracks and is released on November 20, 2026 by Relapse Records. The first single is called «Early Graves».
The record is also dedicated to bassist Henrik Frykman, who died of cancer in 2011, shortly after the release of the band’s previous album, «Live The Storm».
Lindberg, best known as the singer of At The Gates, died on September 16, 2025 at the age of 52, after a battle with adenoid cystic carcinoma. He had recorded his vocals for «The Last Nail» in the spring of 2023, before the diagnosis came that year. Andersson played drums in Disfear from 1998 and died on September 15, 2026, after a four-year battle with brain cancer.
In a statement, Disfear wrote that since the time of «Live The Storm» they have lost three members to cancer — Henrik, Tomas and most recently Marcus. The album was written over 14 years and recorded in the last three, while the band was actively preparing it in the last year.
As they noted, the two of them wanted the album to come out as quickly as possible. Andersson lived to see a final copy of the record before he died and the band wants to share the joy it gave him. In April 2024, at their last recording session, they had a good time without thinking about the hard parts, and Robert Samsonowitz took the last photos of the «The Last Nail» line-up in the studio.
«The Last Nail» will be the second 2026 album with vocals by Lindberg — in April At The Gates released «The Ghost Of A Future Dead» through Century Media Records.
Disfear are from Nyköping, Sweden and have been active since 1989. Lindberg joined in 1998 and was first heard on the 2003 «Misanthropic Generation». The line-up also includes guitarists Björn Peterson and Uffe Cederlund, a former member of Entombed, with bassist Andreas Axelsson.
