Urakka from Rochester, New York present their second album The Bridge, released on August 8, 2026 independently. The band moves in a distinctive blend of progressive and avant-garde metal with clean vocals, going far beyond the usual — an album that deserves the attention of those looking for something different.
Urakka consist of Tasty Cakes (bass), Pounder (drums), Professor and Skromak (guitars) and Finny (vocals). The Bridge is a unique turn into avant-garde metal, with riffs that collide into unusual meters and a lascivious bass that gives the record its organic identity. Finny’s voice goes from punk-ish screams to hard rock belting and in between to more western or gravelly tones — unpredictable in every song.
The five long tracks constantly change style: “Practitioner” (08:22) focuses on a strong, repeating riff and lyrics inspired by Judge Holden, “Biaph Ra’Dm” (11:39) plays with surf-rock images and strange poetry, while “Last Call” (11:59) suddenly shifts from prog metal to krautrock in the middle. “Lichens Subscribe” (04:59) is the shortest and most “open” track, and the closing “Honor Amongst The Damned” (10:13) keeps the same crazy, uncategorizable aesthetic. With The Bridge, Urakka build a distinct world that recalls cult classics — if nothing else, because it resembles nothing else out there.
