Amon Amarth return with a new taste of their upcoming studio album The Allfather Awakens, presenting “Eight Legs Of Thunder” along with a cinematic video that weaves Odin’s mythology with imagery taken from westerns.
The new single comes a few weeks before the release of the record, which is expected on October 2, 2026 through Metal Blade Records. The album will include ten tracks in total.
A different video for Amon Amarth
The video for “Eight Legs Of Thunder” was directed by Dariusz Szermanowicz, with the band choosing a different visual approach this time. The dust, the atmosphere of a modern western and the intensity of the action meet Sleipnir, Odin’s mythical eight-legged horse.
The result is a video with a cinematic aesthetic, plenty of action and a dose of black humor, without however losing the character of Amon Amarth.
Ten new songs
The Allfather Awakens will include:
- Gjallarhorn
- Eight Legs Of Thunder
- Kvasir’s Blood
- We Rule The Waves
- Upphaf
- Die With A War Cry
- Raven God
- The Allfather Awakes
- Oden’s Hunt
- Ascending Like An Eagle
A new era for the band
The Allfather Awakens is Amon Amarth’s 13th studio album and comes after more than three decades of a career. Despite their long history, the Swedes show that they don’t simply want to repeat the known recipe.
The presence of “Upphaf”, the different approach to composition and now the more cinematic “Eight Legs Of Thunder” show a band that keeps trying things, without leaving behind its characteristic melodic death metal sound.
With the album’s release approaching, Amon Amarth are also preparing a new live production, inspired by Odin’s Golden Hall, which will form the setting of their next European tour.
