Street Tombs – Existence Is Corruption
Street Tombs return with their second full-length, “Existence Is Corruption”, and continue down the same dirty path that made them stand out. Old-school Death Metal, Thrash and Crust Punk come together in a sound that is heavy, raw and without unnecessary frills.
The record moves mainly at mid-tempo speeds, with heavy riffs, strong grooves and that tank-like feel that makes you nod your head without a second thought. The compositions are relatively short and direct, but the guitars hide plenty of details, from whammy dives and feedback to solos and small Black Metal touches.

“Deceptor” brings out more of a Thrash character, while “Upset the Grave” and “Systematic Suffering” are among the tracks that stand out most. The latter especially has a strong groove at its centre and shows that Street Tombs have improved their songwriting quite a bit.
Compared to the previous album, the production is cleaner and the drums have more room, without losing the dirt that this sound needs. This is not a record that tries to impress with technical tricks. Street Tombs play simply, heavily and aggressively.
“Existence Is Corruption” is for those who want Death Metal with a Crust Punk nerve, Thrash outbursts and riffs that work best when heard loud.
