Pete Sandoval announced that he is no longer a member of I Am Morbid and will not take part in their European tour.
“`The news comes a few days after I Am Morbid were confirmed as headliners of «Morbidfest» 2026, together with Atheist and Cancer, on a tour from 21 November to 13 December 2026. There the band plays the first four Morbid Angel albums, «Altars Of Madness», «Blessed Are The Sick», «Covenant» and «Domination».
«I will not be part of this tour and I am no longer a member of I Am Morbid», he wrote on Instagram.
He explained that on the last tour with the band he fell ill with flu, «but that is not the reason». The reason is that for a long time he has not felt the same connection with those songs, since his history with Morbid Angel continued well beyond «Domination».
In a second statement he said he intended to leave after the previous tour, but thought about returning for the European dates, after receiving messages from fans. Before he could speak with the band, another drummer had already been hired.
Sandoval joined Morbid Angel in 1988 and stayed until 2013, playing, beyond the first four, on «Formulas Fatal To The Flesh», «Gateways To Annihilation» and «Heretic». He joined I Am Morbid in 2022. David Vincent sang on the first four Morbid Angel albums, left in 1996, returned in 2004 and left again in 2015. I Am Morbid have not announced who will play drums on the tour.
