Mork are one of those names that need no introduction. Thomas Eriksen has kept the project alive since 2004, and each of his records has its own personality without ever losing the second‑wave DNA. Monolitt continues exactly down that path: cold, raw, but with enough small details to show that Eriksen isn’t standing still.
The album opens with “Under Vekten Av Verden”, a track that immediately puts you in the mood. Asgeir Mickelson’s drums are steady as a machine, and the guitars have that cold, sharp tone that recalls winter in Norway. “Ødelagt” starts with the same momentum, but toward the end drops into a slower, almost ceremonial pace, which gives a nice contrast.

“Torden” is one of the most immediate tracks on the record — simple lead, nice buildup and a rhythm that makes you nod your head without realizing it. From there on, the album starts to open up. “Inn I En Annen Sfære” has a brighter, almost crystalline atmosphere, with guitars that glide over synths before the classic tremolo comes in. “Jutul” brings some clean vocals too, discreet, but enough to add character.
“Utryddelse” is one of the most interesting points on the record, with constant changes of tempo and mood. At times it recalls Kampfar, at others a more modern Mayhem, but always with Mork’s personal style. “Skrømt” and “Ferdamann” keep the same quality, with lovely melodies hidden beneath the icy exterior.

The production is clean, but not overly polished. Every instrument has room, yet the whole remains rough, as it should. Monolitt doesn’t try to be anything else — it’s black metal that knows what it wants to do and does it well.
