Organised by Eternal Flame Fest, Marduk, one of the most important and influential black metal bands of all time, are finally coming to Sarajevo. After 36 years of activity, 15 albums and countless concerts, the Swedish war machine arrives in Bosnia and Herzegovina for one of the most anticipated metal events of recent years.
Albums like Those of the Unlight, Opus Nocturne, Nightwing, Plague Angel and the legendary Panzer Division Marduk have defined black metal and are now landmarks of the genre.
An event with history
The attempts to have Marduk appear in Sarajevo in 2007 and 2015 didn’t succeed due to unforeseen circumstances. But the third attempt will become reality, bringing a historic band to a city that has waited years for this moment.
The bands opening the night
Before Marduk, two important names of the local scene take the stage:
- . Obskuritatem – The most successful black metal band of Bosnia and Herzegovina, member of the Black Plague Circle. With appearances in Portugal, Germany, Estonia, Austria and soon Denmark. Sound: evil, dark, nihilistic.
- . Svarog – A force of the Sarajevo scene, with live appearances that have already earned the audience’s respect. The appearance with Marduk is a big step for the band.
Black metal continues the next day
On October 8, at the historic AG Club, the Black Plague Circle continues the black metal weekend with Kawir, one of the most important names of Greek black metal.
For over three decades, Kawir have served authentic Greek black metal, inspired by ancient mythology and pagan rituals. Joining them:
- . Silent Kingdom – 25 years of activity, combining black, death and progressive metal and elements from the tradition of Bosnia.
- . Arjen – Solo project of H.P. from the Black Plague Circle, with a dark, atmospheric and technically impressive approach.
