Endseeker return with Coffin Born — and at the same time they say goodbye to us. After more than a decade, four albums and two EPs, the band decides to close its circle the way it opened it: with an EP, with unity and with the same crew that started the journey. A farewell that comes from the heart.
Coffin Born starts with “Enemies of Peace”, a crust‑punk death metal outburst with a clear anti-fascist message. The band leaves nothing half-done — the track is raw, immediate and politically clear. “No After. No Before.” continues down the same path, with more of a death metal character but keeping the hardcore soul of the opener.
The title track “Coffin Born” is the EP’s most death metal moment: guitars that strike like hammers, fast drumming and a more traditional subject matter. Still, the sound isn’t 100% classic — Endseeker always had their own way of playing death metal, and that shows here too.
The big surprise is the cover of David Hasselhoff’s “True Survivor”, featuring Lord of the Lost. The choice may seem strange, but it fits perfectly with the band’s humor and aesthetics. The rendition keeps the spirit of the original, but with guitars in place of the synths and a more “metal” energy. It’s a cover that shows the band never feared playing outside the narrow confines of death metal.
Coffin Born is a small but powerful farewell. An EP that combines political stance, death metal power and an unexpected dose of fun. Endseeker leave as they came: honest, immediate and with passion for what they do.
