Lita Ford is back with «Dracula», the first song from her new album and her first release since signing with Italy’s Frontiers Music Srl. The single came out on 27 October.
“`Gary Hoey produced it, having already taken the job on 2012’s «Living Like A Runaway», and Max Norman mixed. Hoey also played guitar on the sessions, with Bobby Rock on drums.
Ford says the track is about an entity that stands for seduction and control, one that ends up draining your life and everything in it. «There is something fun about flirting with destruction,» she notes, and describes slide guitars that moan as if they had a life of their own. The result, she says, is menacing.
Frontiers announced the deal with Ford on 22 October, five days before the single appeared. The album’s title and release date have not been made public yet.
The record will be her first set of new material since «Living Like A Runaway». «Time Capsule» from 2016 was a collection of unreleased 1980s recordings found on old cassettes rather than new songs.
Her story starts with The Runaways in the mid-1970s and carries on as a solo artist from 1983. On the new album she works again with Max Norman, who mixed Megadeth’s «Rust in Peace», and «Dracula» lands in a year full of returns, from the «Too Fast For Love» box set to the records still promised for the months ahead.
