Metallica played «Devil’s Dance» for the first time in 18 years at the second show of their «Life Burns Faster» residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas, on Saturday 3 October 2026. The track from the 1997 album «Reload» had not been played live since 7 June 2008.
“`«Devil’s Dance» came fourth in the running order, after «Blackened», «Fuel» and «Leper Messiah». A little later Metallica also played «The Outlaw Torn», which had not been heard since 8 September 2019, at the second «S&M2» show with the San Francisco Symphony.
The 16-song set also included «72 Seasons», the title track of their most recent album, the instrumental «Orion», «Welcome Home (Sanitarium)» and «One», and it closed with «Enter Sandman».
The residency follows the «No Repeat Weekend» approach Metallica used on the «M72 World Tour»: the shows come in pairs, Thursday and Saturday, and every night has a completely different setlist. So none of Saturday’s songs were repeated from the premiere night, Thursday 1 October 2026.
«Life Burns Faster» was originally announced with eight dates in October 2026 and, because of demand, was extended to 24 shows. It continues in November, returns in January and wraps up on 13 March 2027.
The Sphere holds around 17,600 spectators, opened in September 2023 and is known for the 16K screen that wraps around it. Metallica take over from the residencies of U2, Phish, Dead & Company and Eagles.
