Michael Sweet wants Stryper to get into the studio in January and record material for three albums at once, so that the band’s catalog is completed while everyone in the lineup is still able to do it.
“Throne of Thorns”, their 18th studio album, comes out on Friday, September 25 via Frontiers Music. Speaking on “Lots Of Muzik”, Sweet said they are discussing returning to the studio in January to write three albums, aiming for 21 in total.
The reason
The thinking, as he says, has to do with time: to get it done while the band can still perform at this level. He mentioned his own health and that of guitarist Oz Fox, saying that another surgery would carry greater risk for his vocal cords.
He pitched the idea to their label, which was surprised at first, but by the end of the meeting accepted it enthusiastically. As he said, maybe other bands will try something like this too.

Not together
The three albums will not be released together. They will follow the usual pace, with the first coming in the time the previous ones needed.
