Under The Shadows return with new material and present the video clip for “Persephone Rising”, another sample from their upcoming album “Thesmophoria”, out on 2 July via Lion Music.
“`A project that matured over decades
Under The Shadows are not a band that appeared suddenly. Behind them lies a thirty-year journey through the dark paths of heavy metal, goth aesthetics and neoclassical folk. The project evolved through:
- countless rehearsals in small spaces
- makeshift studios
- changes in the scene, technology and the creators’ personal seasons
The result is a sound that doesn’t try to imitate anything — it’s lived-in, built through years of experimentation and creative persistence.

“Thesmophoria” as an artistic return
The new album doesn’t function as a debut, but as a return to the core of the project. The compositions combine:
- the raw energy of early metal influences
- the dark, introspective depth of the goth atmosphere
- the storytelling folk traditions
Every track bears the traces of the many musicians and collaborators who passed through the project over all these years, adding techniques, ideas and personal touches.
“Thesmophoria” looks back without nostalgia and forward without distancing itself from its roots. It explores themes that have accompanied the project for decades: darkness and resilience, memory and identity, the coexistence of overlapping genres.
“Persephone Rising” – The new chapter
The new video clip works as a prelude to the album, presenting the aesthetic and style that characterizes Under The Shadows’ new era. Atmospheric, dark and with strong storytelling, “Persephone Rising” shows that “Thesmophoria” is not just a new release, but a condensation of decades of creation.
