Bruce Dickinson says his schedule is booked through the end of 2028: Iron Maiden, a new solo album, a European tour and film projects — including a villain role in a film about fencing.
He revealed this while answering an audience question at Fan Expo Canada, at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, where he appeared for a single day, on August 28, 2026.
About the fencing-themed film, he explained that a producer friend of his is putting it together: a story in the spirit of «Karate Kid», with modern fencing and the Olympics as a backdrop, written by Rob Edwards, known for Disney’s «The Princess And The Frog» and «Treasure Planet». He himself will be the villain. The project still needs funding, he says, and Dickinson — a competitive fencer for decades — is waiting for the financial side to close before it starts.
At the same time he’s working on a screenplay that starts from the graphic novel «The Mandrake Project». It’s not the comic itself, because he’s halfway through the third book, which will be released during the year — at that point the series is complete and will come out as a complete 500-page graphic novel. The film is set after the end of the series, directed by a friend of his in Brazil, and the cast includes Bill Moseley, Linnea Quigley and Michael Berryman.
The five music videos he shot in August in Nevada with Italian-Brazilian director Leo Liberti will be released separately and will also form a film of about 45 minutes.
The new solo album arrives in early 2027 on BMG, after 2024’s «The Mandrake Project» — his first solo work in almost twenty years. It was recorded with his touring band (Mistheria, Dave Moreno, Tanya O’Callaghan, Chris Declercq, Philip Näslund), with Andreas Kisser of Sepultura on percussion during the February sessions, and he’ll take the same lineup with him on his 2027 tour.
