Kai Hansen presents the second single from his upcoming solo album “Born With A Hammer”, titled “Welcome To Life” — a track that reveals a different side of the musician who has shaped European heavy/power metal through Helloween and Gamma Ray.
The new single
“Welcome To Life” combines heavy metal, punk and rock’n’roll, with dynamic guitars, sharp tempo changes and melodies that stick. As the album’s second track, it shows early on how diverse and open to different influences “Born With A Hammer” will be.
Lyrically, the song speaks about accepting life as it is, freeing yourself from what’s missing and making the most of what we have. The sense of freedom and spontaneity is also captured in the official lyric video, where a Mustang drives along a “hell‑tinged” road, following the track’s dynamics.

The album “Born With A Hammer”
The album was recorded with: – Eike Freese – guitar – Alexander Dietz (Heaven Shall Burn) – bass – Dan Wilding (Carcass) – drums – Tim Hansen (Induction) – guitar
The production was done by Eike Freese, Kai Hansen and Alexander Dietz.
Across 10 songs, “Born With A Hammer” combines heavy metal power, punk attitude, hard rock energy and sharp melodies. “Welcome To Life” represents the most direct and carefree side of the album, completing the picture given by the first single “Feeding The Beast”.
After the worldwide success of Helloween’s recent reunion era, Kai Hansen returns to his personal musical universe — and “Welcome To Life” shows that this universe remains deeply rooted in his history, but continues to chart a new course.
