Swedish guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen has released the video for «Beyond Zeta Reticuli», the second single from his new album «Hell Or High Water», out on 13 November via Music Theories Recordings and Artone Label Group.
“`The track is instrumental and takes its name from Zeta Reticuli, a binary star system that has been linked to stories about alien life. He himself says he was inspired by his fascination with extraterrestrial life and that the track combines heavy themes, strong melodies and intricate counterpoint.
«Beyond Zeta Reticuli» follows the first single «Now Or Never». The album is Malmsteen’s first studio record since «Parabellum» in 2021 and, as then, he wrote the songs at home, without the cycle of recording and touring interrupting him.
As he explains, he used to take songs he had ready and then entered a schedule — album, tour, next album. During the pandemic he realised it was better to work without interruptions, so he stayed home and wrote the album in eight months. He had about 80 to 90 tracks ready and then picked the strongest.
The album has nine tracks, among them the instrumentals «Antikythera» — inspired by the ancient Greek mechanism found in a shipwreck in 1901 — and «Am Caprice/Hell Or High Water». It closes with «Father», which he wrote in memory of his father, who passed away the previous year. Malmsteen sings and plays guitar on the record, with vocals on tracks like «(On The) Battlefield» and «Eye For An Eye».
