Review / Comment:
If you thought you’d be hearing something relaxed, you probably opened the wrong page. Meltification don’t joke around at all. They throw 18 bullets of rage in your face and the party starts from the very first second with “Turmoil”. The track blows up like a grenade in your living room – we’re talking incredible Thrash throttle and vocals that bark in such a way that Max Cavalera’s Nailbomb immediately comes to mind. “Midian” that follows doesn’t take the foot off the gas, creating that wonderful sense of chaos: you feel like the train is going a thousand miles an hour and is about to derail.
Just when you think it can’t get faster, “Assembly Line Of Horror” comes along to level everything. Relentless blast beats, neck-snapping changes and guitar work that gives off smoke. It’s like hearing Soulfly locked in the studio to play Discharge covers! “Nuclear Death Threat” brings a dirty hardcore punk street attitude, with a little riff in the second half that sticks in your head badly. And in “Leech”, the guys go full-on aggressive, delivering socio-political messages with the sharp precision of a chainsaw.
The great thing about the record is that it isn’t only speed and “beating”. There are moments that catch you off guard. For example, the instrumental “Hellscape” flirts heavily with stoner, bringing something of CKY to mind, and gives you a breather before “A.I.mageddon” drops a brick on your head. Even weirder and cooler? The acoustic “Hellscape Part 2”, which sounds like it came out of an Italian spaghetti western.
As for Rindom’s drums on “Memento Gory” and “Wargod”? They’re just not human, you think you’re hearing Gene Hoglan in top form, while the old school death metal riffs overflow with 90s flavour. Special mention must go to “Fragments”, a huge, heavy tribute to the swamps of Kirk Windstein and Crowbar, and to “Calculated Demise”, which brings a grandeur that screams “Bolt Thrower” from miles away.
The album closes ideally with “Final Ritual”, flooring the gas on faster death metal paths. The chemistry between Sprogø and Rindom is incredible. They have the experience and the momentum to make a record that feels like a ride in the electric chair. Turn it up loud, it’s worth every second.
